Grade Label Revolution

With innovation key to STA’s way of doing business, the team has turned its attention to petrol forecourt grade labels.

Warren Peters explains: “Existing grade labels haven’t changed much over the last thirty to forty years.  Our new labelling system is safer, easier to install, offers longevity and is competitive price wise.”

With three trials of offset fill labels currently underway (two on petrol forecourts and one here at STA), the pioneering labelling system uses a polyester developed for use in the aircraft industry and adopted by major corporations such as DuPont, Ineos, and BASF. STA’s new holder has been developed to specifically to mitigate potential accidents, such as the incident involving a child at a forecourt that required stitches after playing at the offset fill point.

Warren continues: “STA’s labels are clearer to read, and our holders are designed and fabricated with curved edges, with an optional extra rubber safety edge available. If a tank product is to change, it’s simply a case of reordering a new label, which can then be fitted in situ with no tools required.”

Currently refining its holder design, STA’s new offset fill labels and holders will be available from early 2021.  The full range of forecourt labelling requirements, including statutory identification signs, will be available soon after.
